Nepal's first Aircraft Hijacked
The first plane in the history of Nepal was hijacked at 8:40 am on June 11, 2030 BS. The plane carrying 14 passengers including a child from Biratnagar to Kathmandu was captured by the hijackers five minutes after leaving the runway at an altitude of 6,000 feet above the Koshi Barrage. The abduction involved an unlicensed illegal pistol, two 32-revolvers and a 36-grenade bomb. The hijacked plane landed at Farbisgunj, India with the help of Sushil Koirala and returned to Biratnagar as per the plan of Girija Prasad Koirala. The abductors did nothing but took cash. All the leaders of the Nepal Students' Union directly involved in the abduction, Durga Subedi, Vasant Bhattarai and Nagendra Dhungel, were later arrested except Nagendra Dhungel.
